London: A Summary

OK, let's quickly summarise the rest of my time in London here, shall we? *Takes a hypothetical deep breath*

The rest of my time in London, since I last updated this blog, was quite interesting considering I stayed there for nearly another year. In that time, I continued working for Aussie Man And Van and Anthony Ward Thomas, which was pretty cool as I got to see so many different parts of London, peek inside tons of fancy houses and deal with some pretty interesting customers/clients. Once I even moved some items from a mansion where you had to be escorted to the toilet by a guard if you needed to go. The client was super VIP, yet I still have no idea who it was (All I know is that they lived two doors down from David Beckham).

Aside from work, I continued to play footy for the North London Lions, who went on to make the grand final in the 1s and 3s. I played for the 3s throughout the whole final series but unfortunately both teams were unable to bring home the flag that year. We lost to the Wandsworth flogs in both grades. Regardless, the end of season celebrations and Silly Sunday continued in true NLL spirit, with everyone getting around each other and having a rip-roaringly good, drunken time. Not to mention that Alex Dyson, the inventor of the Dyson Airblade*, came to watch our match and party with us afterwards. He even came to Silly Sunday, where he chatted to my partner in better french than me. Silly Sunday was movie character themed and there were some bloody good costumes. I went as Draco Malfoy, as my hair was quite bleached at the time, and some other appearances included Ali-G, Forest and Lt Dan, Black Swan and the green army men from Toy Story.

Upon conclusion of the footy season, we had the North London Lions Awards Night. I went dressed in a dashing white, linen suit with a pair of light blue shoes and almost got confused when they awarded me Best and Fairest for the 3s. I thought I'd won a best dressed, as it was loud and I wasn't fully paying attention. All I managed to hear was someone say "Probably the best dressed here" over the microphone.

Outside of footy, there were a few other ups and downs to the remainder of my time in London. We had a terrible letting agent, who was making life quite difficult for us in our Kentish Town flat. People who worked for the agency would constantly let themselves into the flat, without prior consent, whenever they needed to do an inspection or fix something. Once, they even came to replace someones mattress and ended up throwing the wrong one out onto the street**. They even trie to turf us out of the flat after only two months of us having moved in. We contested the notice and found out that it is illegal to evict someone from a flat before six months has passed. We also found out, in the process, the agency we were letting from was actually letting the property from someone else and only sub-letting to us. It was the original letting agency and the owners, who had no idea my friends and I were living in the flat, that wanted the property back. The agency we were letting from were so dodgy and stand-overish, that I advise anyone who is reading this and thinking of moving to London to avoid a company called Powered By Rooms. We ended up moving out after six months to a nice place in South Ealing, with one of the guys from my footy team, where we spent a lot of our time going to the local pub and coming last in the weekly pub quiz.

Some other notable events that occurred during the rest of my time London are my good, old mate, Dave coming to visit me in Kentish Town with his partner, my step-bro swinging by with his partner for a visit and to add to their Instagram material***, and the time my partner and I rode the ferry from Dover to Calais after moving out of the Kentish Town flat. Before moving to South Ealing, we'd needed to drop a whole heap of stuff off at my partner's family's house in Normandy as we simply had too much. I've never been in a car so laden with belongings!

As you can see, quite a bit happened before I returned back home and these few paragraphs by no means act as a decent recount. But they'll have to do, otherwise I'll be here. typing, forever. Right now, I can already remember that I need to add the fact that I helped my partner on the set of a music video for a rapper called ADP. I think the video is called "No Good For Me" if you want to check it out. She also worked on the set of a music video by Love Island's Matt and Kim, called "Little bit Leave it", but now I'm just advertising her stuff.

Anyways. I hope this answers more questions than it raises about my time away. I'm happy to answer any questions that have been raised if you can manage to get in contact with me. Better yet, I'd love to catch up for a beer and answer you in person, but only if you can hunt me down. Otherwise, I'll catch you all next time with my next post!

*Not actually the inventor of the Dyson Airblade, but actually Triple J presenter

**It was our mattress!

***My step bro and his partner are instafamous. You might have seen their stuff @mariefeandjakesnow
